XT Hard Mode Overview
Here's the thing folks, if your attempting hard mode then you obviously understand the normal fight with XT Deconstructor so here I will highlight the changes and give a few tips on how to deal with the changes in the fight. So this strategy and tactics guide will list the changes and the different way in which I run my team to complete this encounter. Good luck with this one, it's not all that difficult and it certainly is a bit of fun.
First of all the positioning of XT Deconstructor is not as important with a hard mode kill as it is with a normal kill, this is because you will be nuking the heart of XT until it is dead, at which point you will no longer get the same phase 1 and 2 layout and you will not get any more adds join the battle therefore your positioning to be able to deal with these adds is no longer a factor.
During hard mode XT you will notice a few changes, as soon as his heart is killed you will see the boss instantly regenerate back to 100% health, as such its very important that you take the heart out during the first time it's exposed, killing it later by accident or on purpose will only prolong the fight and offer up more opportunities for something to go wrong.
There will be void zones spawn where players that have the gravity well debuff are standing that will do AoE damage to nearby players, you gotta move.
There are also a number of adds that will spawn, the number will depend on the amount of Light Debuffs that are cast on your players, each time one is cast an add will spawn, this puts more pressure on the raid and the healers until eventually you wont be able to deal enough damage to keep adds under control, keep healing and kill XT before the enrage timer. The adds can be a pain in the backside so make sure your offtank is picking them up and you have some assigned burst dps to get them down (alternatively have your OT pick them up and keep them all and assign the OT a decent healer and finish them off after XT is dead, just make sure you have a decent tank and healer combo and dont take too long on XT)
To complete XT on hard more you need decent DPS, if your taking members that are doing under 3.5k DPS for this fight then we suggest that you should rethink who you take. 3.5k DPS is not exactly a high standard in the current state of game play so you should have no trouble reaching that point.
STRATEGY / TACTICS - XT Deconstructor Hard Mode
1. Tank him at the stairs
2. During "Exposed Heart" nuke the heart until it's dead, use as many cooldowns as is needed to achieve this but also keeping back as much as you can
3. Spread out the raid, make sure there is plenty of space so you dont get done by the void zones from gravity well but stay in range of healers
4. Have your Off Tank pick up any adds from players who get the light debuff
5. Have the OT tank them to the side to deal with after XT OR have your OT take them to a kill zone and assign some DPS to nuke them down (1 or 2 is enough)
6. Make sure you have plenty of heals incomming for Tymptanic Tantrum, I suggest a decent resto druid applies HoTs on all the raid before this hits, it nasty on hard mode.
7. NUKE NUKE NUKE. This is the key, high DPS a quick kill and plenty of nice purples for anyone who needs them. Pop Trinkets and Cooldowns and Bloodlust if you still have it left.
