Ignis Overview
Ignis the Furnace Master Abilities
- Flame Jets - Inflicts 5,655 to 6,345 (Heroic: 8,483 to 9,517) Fire damage and interrupts spellcasting for 6 seconds. Affected targets take additional 1,000 (Heroic: 2,000) Fire damage every 1 second, for 6 seconds.
- Scorch - Inflicts 2,357 to 2,643 (Heroic: 3,770 to 4,230) Fire damage every half-second to targets in front of the caster within 30 yards. In addition, the ground within 13 yards becomes scorched, inflicting 1,885 to 2,115 (Heroic: 3,016 to 3,384) Fire damage every 1 second. Iron Constructs gain Heat while standing on scorched ground.
- Slag Pot - Charges and grabs a random target and incapacitates them, inflicting 4,500 (Heroic: 6,000) Fire damage every 1 second for 10 seconds. If the target survives, they will gain 100% (Heroic: 150%) haste for 10 seconds.
- Activate Iron Construct - Activates one of the Iron Constructs in the room. Iron Construct - Iron Constructs brought to ground which is affected by Scorch, will gain stackable Heat buff, which increases their movement speed and haste by 5 per application. If Iron Constructs gain 10 stacks of Heat, they will become Molten, increasing their haste by 100% and inflicting 1,885 to 2,115 Fire damage every 1 second to enemies within 7 yards. Molten Iron Constructs can be brought to water, which causes them to become Brittle and unable to perform any action for 20 seconds. Critical strike chance against Brittle Iron Constructs is increased by 50%. If a single attack deals more than 5,000 damage to a Brittle Iron Construct, it will Shatter, inflicting 18,850 to 21,150 Physical damage not mitigated by armor, to enemies within 10 yards. Shattering the Construct causes Ignis to lose a stack of Strength of the Creator.
- Strength of the Creator - For every Iron Construct active and alive, Ignis gains 15% damage, stacking up to 99 times.
Ignis the Furnace Master Strategy / Tactics
To ensure that your raid do not end up running around like headless chickens trying to avoid the Scorch areas we recommend that kiting Ignis the Furnace Master in a set pattern allowing him to drop the Scorch around the raid who can stay central and keep up a steady stream of DPS and healing is the best tactic.
First off start by positioning your raid in the center of the different color strip of floor that runs between the two cooling pools. See Diagram Below.
You now need to assign one of your Ranged DPS to be on Shatter duty.
The Off Tank should pick up any Iron Constructand take them to/through an area where there is Scorch making sure to apply 10 stacks of Heat to them before taking them into a cooling pool. It’s at this point they gain the Brittle debuff and the Ranged DPS that is assigned to Shatter Duty will need to nuke them and make a critical strike above 5k damage in a single spell which will destroy the construct. The reason we use a ranged DPS is that Shatteringthe construct will make it explode causing some AoE damage.
While not dealing with adds the DPS assigned to Shatter Duty can add to the DPS on Ignis the Furnace Master as long as they are still watching carefully.
At random intervals Ignis the Furnace Master will cast Slag Pot this shouldn’t cause any difficulty, it will not target the tanks and any healers or dps caught in his Slag Pot can continue to Heal or DPS, the only exception is that you cannot target another raid member to heal while inside the Slag Pot but you can heal yourself. Healers caught in this should heal themselves freeing up the other healers to pick up the duties they had been performing previously.
Ignis the Furnace Master will also cast Flame Jets on a regular basis, during this period you must cast only instant spells or suffer a 10 second silence, bringing a Resto Druid to this raid is a bonus due to the amount of instants and nature of HoT although it’s not necessary if people focus and remember not to cast during Flame Jets.
While all of this is happening the Main Tank should be kiting Ignis the Furnace Master around the raid, please see the diagram below for a clear picture of the kite path. It doesn’t matter if you decide to go clockwise from 1-4 or anticlockwise from 4-1, just make sure that it’s agreed beforehand. Repeat steps 1-4 and keep up the Healing and DPS and the kill will soon be yours.
Remember there is no enrage timer on Ignis so don’t feel under pressure to try and nuke him too fast, the key here is surviving and keeping a good pace going for a smooth kill.
Good luck with this encounter and as ever comments are welcome
Crusader.
