XT Deconstructor Strategy / XT Deconstructor Tactics
XT Deconstructor - Phase 1
During phase 1 XT should be tanked in either the alcove to the left or right of the center of his room. This will prevent an overload of Scrapbots which he can absorb (similar to Gluth in naxx eating the ghouls) to regain health. If he is tanked more central you end up getting adds from all four scrap piles with a smaller window of time to take them all down. This way you get the Boombots, Pummelers and Scrapbots from only two scrap piles, of which because they are closer your Off Tank and AoE DPS are able to switch targets and deal with them quicker and also stay in range of the healers.
Phase 1 lasts for 25% of his health during which you will be dealing with his three abilities. For each of the debuffs, Light Bomb and Gravity Bomb the raid member affected by them will simply move away from the group avoiding as many people as possible but stay in range of a healer.
For Tymptanic Tantrum your healers are going to have to ensure they keep the raid topped off. Only instants are castable during this as the Tymptanic Tantrum also interrupts spell casting. This makes a Resto Druid one of the best healers for this encounter due to the nature of HoTs and the amount of instant casts they have. Once Tymptanic Tantrum has finished it’s incredibly important to get the MT back up to full health and also the entire raid should then be topped off.
After you have done 25% damage you will enter phase 2
XT Deconstructor – Phase 2
Right at the beginning of Phase 2, XT Deactivates for a period of time and the “Heart of XT” becomes targetable. All DPS should focus on the heart and try to inflict as much damage as possible without actually killing it in the time allowed. BEWARE: If you kill the heart this will activate the XT Hard Mode. Any damage done to the heart will be inflicted on XT once he reactivates so maximising your DPS during this time is important. It is entirely possible to move from one Phase 2 directly to another Phase 2 by doing enough damage on the Heart but not killing it, During this phase there will be adds spawning from random scrap heaps that are located in the four corners of the room. Have your Off Tank be ready to pick up any Pummelers that come over to the group and tank them just away from the boss and MT and not directly in front of a scrap pile, just in case a Boombot comes out.
Boombots: Nuke them with a ranged DPS, once their HP reaches 0, they explode so it’s important these don’t reach the main group or are not close to a tank.
Scrapbots: AoE these down before they reach XT to stop him using them to repair himself and regain some of his HP.
Pummelers: Tank them to one side and focus fire them down at the beginning of the next phase 1.
Rinse and repeat until XT Deconstructor is a pile of trash!
Hard Mode
To access hard mode you must kill the Heart of XT when it appears in Phase 2. Hard mode for this encounter simply increases the rate at which he uses his special abilities, how hard he hits your tank and the amount of HP he has. If your group has high dps and decent healers this is probably one of the easiest hard modes that you can take on for extra loot.
Good luck, have fun and thanks for reading another boss strategy and tactics guide from Crusaders Coliseum!
