Razorscale Strategy and Tactics Guide
WotLK Guides - Ulduar - Strategy Guide
Razorscale Overview
One of the easiest fights in Ulduar, Razorscale is a massive dragon that is airborne during all of Phase 1's throughout the fight. This fight requires two tanks, during the majority of the fight they will be tanking adds that exit vehicles that can only be described as drilling machines. To start the event you will need to talk to the NPC at the bottom of the steps, make sure you have your two tanks in position before you do this, i suggest that the tanks take one side of the inner circle each standing towards the far end so as to allow a reasonable distance between them and the raid. Assign 1 healer per tank and if your running with a third healer then assign that one to the raid, otherwise your tank healers can top up the raid when they are able. This fight is generally easy with two reasonable healers so it might be an idea to have another dps instead.
Razorscale - Phase 1
During this phase it's all about the tanks picking up the adds and the dps killing them as fast as possible. Stay out of the flame patches that get shot down on you from Razorscale above and take note of the positions of the Harpoon Turrets. Every now and then you will get a message that a Harpoon Turret is ready for use, at that point you need to have someone assigned to right click it to shoot a Harpoon at Razorscale, it's best to get one of your ranged DPS to do this. Once two Harpoons have been fired these will then bring Razorscale down to the raid where DPS can start on the boss. A high burst DPS will do you a greate service here so using bloodlust at this point is fine. After a few seconds Razorscale will cast an AoE which will cause a knockback when you see this coming (there is a warning) then back off a few paces and you will get no damage. Once Razorscale takes to the air again the process is repeated until the boss is at 50% or less.
Razorscale - Phase 2
When Razorscale gets to half health it will be grounded and the actual burst DPS can commence, the quicker you get the dragon down the better at this point. Tanks must keep it turned away from the raid to avoid it's AoE breath attack. Keep lots of healing on the tank and if you find they are taking too muchh damage as the offtank to pick up Razorscale for a while until the debuff on them runs out. Nuke the hell out of Razorscale and claim your rewards. Gratz, CC team.
