ToC 5 Man Heroic
WotLK Guides - Trial of the Crusader - Strategy Guides
After entering the instance which is on the East side of the Crusaders Coliseum, you need to jump on one of the mounts that are lined up around the wall. Remember that it requires you have an argent Tournament Lance equiped and that after you have defeated the 3 different waves of mobs you will be dismounted and the fight will resume on foot. Be sure to have a quick way to re-equip your proper weapon(s) personally i recommend seting up a macro to switch your weapon in or adding it to your action bars.
Once your mounted go to the center and chat to the NPC there and there will then be a long, and a lot of cheering from your home faction. After the introductions have been made for both sides then the battle can begin. I suggest that while they are introducing your opponents you use that time to get your shield to 3 stacks.
During the joust it's much better to focus down one enemy at a time, get your tank to mark the targets so that everyone can focus together. Although this part of the instance isnt very hard (tbh none of it is that challenging) your best tactic is to get the trash down first then focus on the boss mobs there are one in each pack. Once these are down then it's simply a matter of finishing off the last mob and repeat until all three packs have been killed. If for some reason your mount does get killed run to the side and simply grab another with full health, but beware you can get trampled on which means instant death. At this point your party will be dismounted and the three bosses will need to be picked up and tanked straight away, both tank and healer must be on the ball for weapon switches and ready for combat on foot.
The first mob to be targeted is the Pally that heals, next up is the Rogue or Warrior, the Rogue is my personaly choice at this point as this will stop the pools of poison that get dropped on the floor from putting extra pressure on your healer and forcing your tank to move positions as often or your dps to have to stop damage while moving. Once all three are down congratulate yourself and check to see what tasty loot you have won.
All loots apart from the loot dropped by the last boss appear in the chest that will spring up in the middle of the Coliseum once a boss fight has been completed.
The second boss varies somewhat, but the general rule of thumb is that they can all be tanked and spanked. Before you get to the second boss however you need to clear 3 packs of trash mobs, taking out the healers first then nuking the remaining mobs, it is possible to use some crowd control (cc) should you find it takes the pressure off but the easiest way by far is just to nuke the hell out of them. As soon as the last mob of the third pack bites the dust the boss will aggro and the tank needs to pick it up. Tank and spank and use whatever is needed (I will update this with more detail in a couple days).
Prepare for a chat sequence that brings in the Black Knight riding on what looks to be an undead gryphon or something similar. The black night has abilities related to a Death Knight and will self ressurect 3 times, first you remove his flesh, then you reduce him to a ghost form and finally you kill him for his loot.
Most of his abilities are easy to counter, i recommend having 1 AoE class in the party who can nuke down all of his minions when he uses Army of Undead and also watch out for your healer just in case they get an add on them. Yes he does summon adds but they dont hit very hard and have very little HP.
All in all this an easy instance for good quality loot, if your not a raider and dont have access to the top tier gear then you really should be running this until you have collected all the pieces you need.
Enjoy yourself and good luck with the loot
