This is the Crusaders Coliseum WoW Guide to Heroic Lord Marrowgar tactics in Icecrown Citadel (ICC) and covers the basic strategy and tactics.
Heroic Lord Marrowgar strategy deals with the first encounter of Icecrown Citadel, his abilities are based on bleeds, multiple target attacks and high damage melee strikes. To attempt him in Heroic mode you must have killed the Lich King in your 10 or 25 man raid.
Heroic Lord Marrowgar Abilities
- [Saber Lash] Required multiple tanks stacking on top of each other to split damage
- [Coldflame] Will now last for 8 seconds in heroic mode Marrowgar as opposed to 3 seconds in normal AND adds a DOT!
- [Bone Spike Graveyard] These can now be cast during Bone Storm in heroic mode
- [Bone Storm] Does what it says on the tin

Heroic Lord Marrowgar Assignments and Positioning
Main Tank: Tanks Lord Morrowgar facing away from raid. STACKS ON OT
Off Tank(s): Second on the threat list for Lord Marrowgar, STACKS ON MT
Melee DPS: Lord Marrowgar, move out of Whirlwinds and watch Aggro.
Ranged DPS: Lord Marrowgar, stay at least 4th on Aggro list.
Healers: 3 Healers in 10 man heroic, 6 in 25 heroic.
All tanks must stack on top of each other and in front of the boss who is facing away from the raid. This will ensure no accidental casualties from a rogue saber lash and that the damage is equally divided. 2 tanks in 10 man heroic Marrrowgar, 3 in 25 man heroic Marrowgar.
Coldflame patches will last for 8 Seconds in Heroic Mode instead of 3.
Try to keep Heroic Marrowgar Disarmed. It helps with the Saber Lash.
Make sure the team is fully healed before Bone Storm, otherwise you can take a few casualties even on the small damage output. A resto Druid is excellent for this fight as they can run around casting hots during Bone Storm and also hot up the raid before Bone Storm hits. As usual, Deadly Boss Mods is your friend!
In Heroic mode it's advisable to have the healers stack behind the boss that way there will be no need to move out of Coldflame which takes a ranged target as it's priority and there will also be nearby melee DPS who can instantly swap to DPS the spikes and release that crucial healer. If you have a healer in Bone Spike Graveyard when Bone Storm hits who isnt released quickly you could be in for a lot of trouble.
Bonespike graveyard is cast more often and the spikes MUST be destroyed quickly. They can even be cast during Bone Storm so assign a healer to those that are spiked and have your DPS kill them even during Bone Storm, while at the same time avoiding the boss.
Raid members must be ready to dodge the lines of COLDFLAME so spread out and dont stand behind someone else you could end up getting hit, it's a simple process to move out of the flame until its gone then move back to your position. YOU MUST MOVE OUT OF COLDFLAME FAST.
Run away from Bone Storm and dont DPS.
Make sure the tanks are ready to pick up aggro again and turn Heroic Marrowgar away from the raid.
DPS MUST STOP BEFORE HE FINISHES BONES STORM AS HE DUMPS AGGRO AND THE MT/OT/SOAKER NEED TO REPOSITION HEROIC MODE MEANS HE IS IMMUNE TO TAUNT SO NO MISTAKES CAN BE MADE ON THIS.
