festergut.jpg Resto Druid WoW Guide: How to heal 10 man Festergut

Healing Festergut can be one of the most frustrating parts of the encounter. Massive raid damage taken to all raid members right at the start of the fight means you need to be off to a good start, while the raid damage eases off after the first inhale and you can tell a dramatic difference by the second it doesnt mean you get to relax on the healing, in actual fact what you should be doing is redirecting that healing to the tank who is now taking increased damage. Sounds simple in theory but in practice their are other obstacles in your way.

This is my guide for Resto Druids specifically on raid healing, I will be
writing guides for other classes and combination of classes and perhaps a full Festergut Healing Guide some point in the next couple of weeks.

Festergut Healing Tactics and positioning

Have everyone stack on the tank apart from 3 ranged. Preferably 3 ranged DPS, these should be spread out so as not to infect each other with Vile Gas but close enough they can fold in on each other for the spores. If 2 people in melee range get spores then one should run out and converge on the

Needed: Resto Druid + 1 MT Healer

The trick to the start of the fight is to start laying down your [Rejuvenation] blanket as the boss is pulled, dont wait for the gas to fill the room, use that headstart to your advantage. Throwing out the odd single [Lifebloom] onto your raid members when they are high on health and you have a spare second is very handy, leaving it to bloom, return mana and heal the damage they took in that time from the DoT of the gas. Just dont use too many and watch your mana! [Wild Growth] should be used every cooldown. Topup the people who get Vile Gas with [Regrowth] if you have time as the extra HoT will reduce the need to revisit this player as quickly, if you dont have time for that the use your [Nourish].

If you find yourself in a sticky situation dont forget your [Swiftmend] which should be glyphed to not consume your HoT and as you have a [Rejuvenation] blanket on the whole raid you should be able to use it at every cooldown.

Ensure your [Wild Growth] is off of cooldown for when the ranged players are stacking on top of each other waiting for the spores to explode, this will maximise your targets and really does help.

After the second inhale you will need to think about stacking HoTs on the active tank, [Rejuvenation] and [Regrowth] will help to take off the edge for the MT healer until the tanks switch at 8 stacks of Gastric Bloat.

At 7 stacks on the active tank you should be adding HoT's to the tank that's about to take over, get your [Regrowth], [Rejuvenation] and [Lifebloom] stacks up, I recommend the following order [Rejuvenation], [Lifebloom], [Regrowth], [Lifebloom], [Lifebloom], refresh [Rejuvenation] if needed. Weave in [Wild Growth] on EVERY cooldown and try to time it so that the new tank has picked the boss up and started tanking by the time you add your third lifebloom. At this point raid healing will be minimal, a few [Wild Growth] ticks and the odd [Rejuvenation] should be enough to keep the raid alive.

The active tank will be taking very high damage and it's important that your helping the MT healer on the tanks by keeping your HoTs up and they are warning you when they are using their tanking cooldowns, or more importantly when they are fading. Good communication is the key here. Watch Festergut as he prepares to cast his massive AoE damage and lay down more Gaseous Blight, expect the damage to be massive raid wide and ask your team to pop healthstones at this point to ensure you have time to top them up while they take DoT damage and cover anyone who gets Vile Gas. At this point you simply must move your focus away from the tank again and trust in your MT healer, if you dont switch to raid healing early enough and get your [Rejuvenation] blanket back up again you can kiss goodbye to some of your raid team, the same is said if you get your [Rejuvenation] on too early allowing it to drop off too soon after the damage hits and missing vital ticks. Timing is crucial at this point in the fight, miss time this and you risk losing the headstart that you need on the phase change.

Manage all this while watching your mana! You'll need to be hitting around 5k HPS as a minimum to get through this fight as the primary raid healer.

From here on in it's rinse and repeat, your really in the hands of your DPS beatng the enrage timer and nobody messing up the spores.

Things to watch out for

  • 3 Ranged need to be outside of melee ranged to take on Vile Gas (DPS is best), lose one and it can be cast on the melee and your screwed.
  • Both Spores could land on melee targets, have 1 person on voice comms deciding who runs out to the ranged.
  • Increased damage on the tank coming in second as stacks of gastric bloat are applied before Gaseous Blight AoE.
  • Tanking cooldowns expiring, think [Shield Wall], Spell Survival Insticts not found. etc.

This concludes our 10 man Festergut Druid healing WoW guide, I hope you enjoy the encounter.

Good luck,

Cybac
