Cataclysm Talents and Mastery

WoW News - Cataclysm News

Mage_talent_guide

Zarhym of Blizzard made the following post in relation to how the new Talent tree's, talent points and Mastery skill will work in Cataclysm.

When we first announced our design goals for class talent trees back at BlizzCon 2009, one of our major stated focuses was to remove some of the boring and "mandatory" passive talents. We mentioned that we wanted talent choices to feel more flavorful and fun, yet more meaningful at the same time. Recently, we had our fansites release information on work-in-progress talent tree previews for druids, priests, shaman, and rogues. From those previews and via alpha test feedback, a primary response we heard was that these trees didn't incorporate the original design goals discussed at BlizzCon. This response echoes something we...

Levelling up in Cataclysm

WoW News - Cataclysm News

One of the quirkiest irks with a lot of WoW players has been the oure fiddliness of the levelling up process. Not in terms of kill stuf, complete quest, get xp, more along the lines of what can I do and when can I do it?

To try and make this process as smooth as a babies behind the guys at Blizzard have been working hard on the way our levelling up is announced to us in game and the quality and detail of the information that it provides. It's been a long time coming, and one of the areas that a lot of folks felt should have been dealt with in an earlier expansion.

Essentially the moment you hit the next level not only do you get the satisfying "Ding" noise that's actually more of a "Whooooompf gong!" you also get a screen full of information telling you what new skills and spells you have, what talents are now open to you and also which new battlegrounds and other game activities are now active as well.

No more checking the...

Cataclysm druid, rogue, priest and shaman talent previews

by Alex Ziebart Jun 9th 2010 at 9:31PM

Blizzard has provided a number of fansites with a talent preview for four classes: Druids, Rogues, Priests and Shaman. While the talent trees are not complete yet, these four talent trees are the closest to complete of all classes. Some highlights from the new talents include:
  • Rogues: Vendetta (1 point) - Marks an enemy for death, increasing all damage you deal to the target by 20% and granting you unerring vision of your target, regardless of concealments such as Stealth and Invisibility. Lasts 30 seconds.
  • Druids: Nom Nom Nom [Name Not Final] (2 points) - When you Ferocious Bite a target at or below 25% health...

WoW.Com have put out their views on the raid changes announced for Cataclysm. I've posted it here, have a read, personally I agree with the likes of Matt Low (a.k.a Matticus).

We here at WoW.com play (and love) the game just like anybody else. Blizzard's recent announcement regarding Cataclysm's raid progression changes certainly sparked debate among the team. While we spent hours debating this amongst ourselves, we tried to get a snapshot of our initial feelings on the changes.

This article will be broken up into two pages. The first page will be the WoW.com writers against the change. In the interest of ending on a high note, the second page will be the writers for the change.

Matthew Rossi

In general, I disapprove of this change.

I wouldn't mind the move to 10/25 dropping the same quality of gear, with 25's...

Know Your Lore: The Twilight's Hammer

WoW News - Cataclysm News

The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You're playing the game, you're fighting the bosses, you know the how, but do you know the why? Each week, Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney make sure you Know Your Lore by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft.

Of all groups and sects and collectives and factions in the World of Warcraft, the Twilight's Hammer stand out as being possibly the most deranged and nihilistic of the bunch. If you have an apocalypse, they'll happily start it. They'll worship elementals, Old Gods and anything else that might bring about the end of all that is. Whether infesting Blackfathom Deeps, evoking elemental spirits in Silithus, fighting the Scourge in Anh'Kahet or making trouble in Ulduar, if there's a chance for the world to...
