Halfus Wyrmbreaker Strategy and Tactics

Boss: Halfus Wyrmbreaker
Location: The Bastian of Twilight
Progression Requirement: First boss, required for progression.
Difficulty Level: Easy, mostly a gear check.
Encounter Focus: Add control, Heavy healing, Nuke.

Halfus Wyrmbreaker Abilities
Fireballs and Fire breath: Healers can manage the damage from these.
Malevolent strikes: Halfus applies a stacking Debuff of -5% healing received to any target he strikes, be aware that means a tank swap might be needed
Halfus will summon a dragon, it will be random and it will act as his pet. Each Dragon add will use special abilities of its own, as well as unlock a unique ability to for Halfus to use
Slate dragon
Paralysis aura: This will occasionally freeze the whole raid for 15 seconds, so use as many HoT's can, bring your resto druids! It will also debuf Halfus helping to mitigate some damage while your out of action.
Fire Barrage: Ouch, high damage on the melee group or anyone within close range. Shammy healer or Atonement Priest is good here.
Nether Drake
Nether Aura: 50% less hit raid wide as well as reduce attack speed by 50% and reduces damage done by 25%.
Frenzy: Halfus gains +50% attack speed
Time Warden
Snare, nothing you can do about it, ride it out and stay alive, once you can move again get back on it asap.
Storm rider
Raid wide interrupts every 0.5 sec, you will not be able to cast anything but instants..
Effect on Halfus: Shadow aura- raid wait AOE with a knock back effect.
Summon Whelps: Standard whelps, pick em up, AoE em down.
Whirlwind: When Halfus reaches 30% health he will start whirlwinding, get out the way, it hurts. Melee dps are really going to take a pummeling at this point so healers should be ready.
Halfus Wyrmbreaker Raid Setup
As with any new raid if its your first time inside start with more healers and gradually work down to what you need.
Raid Setup (10 man):
2 Tanks
2-3 Healers
5-6 DPS
Raid Setup (25 man):
2 Tanks
7 Healers
16 DPS
Halfus Wyrmbreaker Tactics
Start the encounter by pulling Halfus, during this first portion of the fight he has not yet summoned his dragon. Use this time to get a head start, the whole raid should be ready to start at the same time.
TANK SWAP AT 6-8 STACKS OF MALEVOLENT STRIKES.
When the dragon add is summoned swap ALL DPS TO THE DRAGON and nuke it down while managing the abilities described above.
When the Whelps are spawned whoever is not tanking Halfus has to pick them up and your DPS have to AoE them down.
When Halfus starts to do his Whirlwind you want to pop Bloodlust and all cooldowns to survive and batter him down before he takes you out. The Whirlwind does a lot of damage so make sure your healers are on the ball.
