Welcome to Totem & Ankh!
This is my online version of a tavern, where shamans and those interested in all things shamanistic can come to eat, drink, and be merry. Except without the eating and drinking bits, you’ll have to do that on your own. Also, there’s no music, entertainment or serving wenches. Pretty much, it’s nothing like a tavern - except for the opportunity to discuss all things shamanistic with like-minded individuals. So, come on in, sit down, and relax. Feel free to bring the beverage of your choice, including (but not limited to) fish oil, yum!
I’ve played World of Warcraft for over 5 years. I’m a casual and social gamer who, after playing Alliance with a priest main, went Horde and created a new main character: Savoire. I leveled as an elemental shaman, which is a great deal like a mage with mail armor who can also heal most non-heroic instances in ele-spec. I started raiding Karazhan and the other Burning Crusades raids as an elemental shaman before turning to a restoration spec before Wrath of the Lich King. Once I leveled to 80, I rushed headlong into raiding and have been chain healing like a mad thing ever since.
Playing a shaman is great fun. You have versatility among the three different specs, allowing you to choose to be a caster, a melee dps, or a healer. There are 22 different totems to choose from, and you can drop 4 at a time. You can breathe underwater for extended periods of time, or better yet, you can walk on water. If you do something perilous which ends in what other characters might call “death” you simply use your ankh and you’re soon as good as new.
Whether you play an enhancement shaman, an elemental shaman, or a restoration shaman, you command the power of the elements with your spells, abilities, and totems. It used to be that most shamans leveled to 40 as enhancement, then switched to elemental until 80, at which time the need for raid healers convinced them to turn to a restoration spec. Using dual specs, a shaman can choose a restoration spec at level 40 while keeping a damage spec. The dungeon finder tool makes it easy and enjoyable for shamans to learn to heal as a resto shaman.
That concludes my introductory post, just a short one to start, we'll be getting into more detail as time goes by.
