Inner Fire: Bringing you weekly doses of Spiritual Goodness. Mmm, tasty.

As you may have noticed, this issue of Inner Fire marks the 10th published edition of the most awesome Priest blog around; right here on crusaderscoliseum.com! And despite being happy to admit, the other class blogs (with a soft spot for Focus Magic) on the site are excellently crafted, there’s just nothing quite like the satisfaction and various thrills you get from playing a graceful, skilful, versatile Priest. To celebrate the whole Double Figures thing, I thought maybe it would be fitting to dedicate an article to how much I LOVE Priests. And why shouldn’t I? They’re just so spectacularly brilliant! So, my loyal readers (Of whom I can’t thank you enough for your continued support and readership), I give you, the greatest Top 10 list of all-time…

10 REASONS WHY I LOVE PRIESTS!

To summarize, we’ll be counting down to what (in my opinion) are the best reasons to love Priests. Chances are I will miss some key points out, and I might pick up some lesser known points about Priests that we may take for granted. But the fact of the matter is there are definitely more than 10 reasons to love a Priest. Which is why, although I’m was very excited about writing this article; it was a right bugger to select My Top 10. Feel free to compile your own Top 10 list and post it in the comments! But, back to reality… let’s get into the thick of it!

10 – Sexy Tiers of armour – So far, Priests must be one of the only classes where the beauty of their Tiered armour has stayed consistent. In particular, Tier 7 looked incredible. We got a halo. While this was wonderful news for Discipline & Holy Priests, Shadow Priests felt slightly girly with a symbol of Anglicism floating above them wherever they ventured. However, this was short lived, since Shadow Priests shortly realised this icon of omnibenevolence meant you were able to catch your enemies off guard with devilish shadow magic. I urge you all to buy a Halo with your Justice points whenever you get the chance; it’s one of the prettiest helms in the game. …In my opinion anyway. And you don’t care about that do you? *sigh*

9 – Able to burn from within, albeit metaphorically, we now have top designer brands throughout Azeroth - Inner Fire – Not this blog, no, no. Unfortunately, while this blog may be one of the reasons I personally love Priests; it’s not really relevant to universalize it with the greatness of the class. The spell, Inner Fire, increasing not only your Armour to turn your squishy cloth armour into the equivalent of designer leather, or even chain mail, it increases your spell power to boost you in what you do best; casting spells! Healing, or damage, Inner Fire will benefit them both.

8 – We have more singing talent than those on the X factor with our various Hymns – From this, I’m deriving to explain the awesomeness of Hymn of Hope and Divine Hymn. The fact that priests can cope with any situation already makes them great, and these hymns just increase our versatility. Whether it’s a boost of Healing or Mana you want, Priests will be able to do it. And sing for the duration. Make sure your games sounds are on when you cast these Hymns, then turn the X Factor or any other various singing talent show on. Then compare.

7 – We’re able to place magical barriers on our allies from afar, instantly making them a giant bubble of absorption goodness – Power Word: Shield. A true great, especially from the perspective of Priests. While all the classes can enjoy, this spell is possibly the most used absorption effect in the game. Has a great range, and a low cooldown; and still manages to do a great job of absorbing all incoming damage. And there’s that lovely sense of satisfaction you get from shielding all of your allies on your screen and seeing the bubbly shields chilling around your screen.

6 – Not that we’re wimps or anything, but DoT you up, you run away, we run away – A greatly misguided game of ‘Tag’, The fact the Priests (Shadow Priests in particular), can place Damage-over-Time effects on their enemies, make their enemy run away in fear with Psychic Scream, then ourselves running away just because we’re very energetic and some need to shed that extra pound holding them back in a raid environment (nothing worse than that extra slice of pizza making you sluggish when you’re healing), all this occurs while your DoT’s are slowly bringing the target to their demise. Who says being evil is being lazy?

5 – As upsetting as it is when a beloved Priest dies, if you chose a certain path, the Gods of Azeroth reward you with an angel form for a short duration – Of course, it’s Spirit of Redemption. Unfortunately only available in the Holy tree, this talent allows you to become a giant healing angel of divinity, even after your death! Allowing you to keep your fellow comrades health bars green and alive, this talent not only has awesome uses, but it looks great on the cosmetic side. And you really do feel like a Priest when you get the Sprit of redemption. However, you kinda feel like a fail since you died. Yeah, U FAILZ.

4 – Do a Barrel, Barrel Roll; with a barra-barrage of Holy Light – Penance. A wonderful spell, exclusively available to those Priests members of the Discipline club. Placing a Barrage of Holy light on either an enemy or ally, we can inflict some light damage, or heavy healing determining on the target we chose to use our barrage of holy doom on. A wonderful aspect of the Priest, this spell looks pretty and is just in general, amazing.

3 – Fear not, jealous non-Priests (we call you Normies), you can now also become an angelic being for a small period of time – From this I mean Guardian Spirit! Again, only available in the Holy Tree, this spell allows Priests to masterfully place a Spirit of Angelic pureness on the target, preventing them from death for the duration. Giving the target this immunity to doom, it also is kind enough to provide the target with angel wings for the duration! Be wary of this though, as these wings don’t grant you the ability to fly. Trust me, I know.

2 – You might be your own person, but you’re mine now – Perhaps one of the most fun spells in the game to play around with, Mind Control can be used from anything to throwing a Gnome of the edge of Eye of the Storm, making Gamon your loyal servant or even just reducing the enemy numbers on a tough battle. The only thing this spell can’t do is find Mankrik’s Wife. Then again, who can?

1 – We can re-enact the scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the room where the Wonka bar floats in millions of pieces above their heads, with a shadowy twist – Dispersion. Not being bias or anything, but of course, I think that the best thing about Priests is something related to Shadow. Dispersing into grains of pure shadow, floating around, being a nuisance to the residents of Dalaran, enticing Nerdrage within PvP due to being nearly immune to damage, whilst still being able to move about and be irritating. A fun spell to use wherever, a great spell when used in context. Dispersion, you may not have had a hearty welcome when you were first introduced, but hell, Shadow Priests are now respecting you everywhere. Well done, Dispersion, well done.

And I guess that brings this week’s edition of Inner Fire to a close. Feel free to leave you comments and views, or you can contact me via the Kuurg contact page!

Until next week…
