Raid Leader Rant 5: I've got to go now...

Hi again folks,

Well here I am with another rant, i'm starting to sound like a right grumpy old fart, but in all honesty there are always a few things that annoy the hell out of me, and I know they annoy the hell out of a lot of other Raiders and Raid Leaders out there so why on hells earth shouldnt I make a bit of noise ;)

This weeks rant is about those people who signup to a raid and then leave half way through because their parents wont let them carry on, they are what I like to call the Pyjama Raiders. No that doesnt mean they raid their Pyjama's to play at tanking the snake boss for an hour, it just means they are wasting an hour before their hot milk arrives and it's time for their blanket and good night lullaby.

Most guilds these days use the in game calendar to schedule their events, and why wouldnt they? The most important pieces of information in scheduling an event are where, when, what and who. Where is it, when is it, what time does it start and finish and who's going. Answer those questions and your set to go and everything should be fine right? Wrong, you get little pricks who dont give any thought to the word signup or commitment.

So the other night I ran a raid to ToC normal 10 man, we only had 5 guildies who were unsaved as this was the beginings of our second team. That's not a problem in itself, I just pugged the other 5 spots, 1 tank that I already knew, 1 healer I already knew, 1 melee and 2 ranged DPS. Lets face it the place is a piece of cake and can be cleaned with a pug in under 1.5 hours easily enough (more like 1 hour!). So it took about 20 minutes to get the rest of the members and then we were away, the 5 guildies had signup up to my event, so we knew our start and finish times and the location.

I was already at the summoning stone ready and eager to get started, and so were a couple other people, so we get everyone summoned and head straight inside.

So 45 minutes later and we lose 2 of our melee, guildies who had signed up said they had to leave because of going to school the next day and their parents telling them to come off the computer.

So here's my incomming rant, read on if you dare, but not if you have delicate ears my little flower ;P

/RANT ON

Signup to my raid and you signup for the whole duration, just because your mummy is bringing you your milk and cookies at 22:00 server time it's not good enough. IF YOU CANT STAY FOR THE WHOLE RAID THEN DONT BLOODY SIGNUP! There is a finish time on the raids for a reason, that's when you can expect to be finished by, if you cant set aside the full duration then do yourself a favour and have the common decency to decline your invite rather than pissing around 9 other people who want to finish up. ToC 10 man takes anywhere from 1-1.5 hours with a pug, pugs are clearing it everyday and leaving us with 1 boss up is a crappy thing to do. Who are we going to get to come in for 1 boss and get saved when they can do the whole place in very little time for more reward? Get your Pyjamas on and go drink your milk because your invites to future raids are in the post, they should arrive when your out of diapers and can raid at adult times. I dont want to have to get annoyed about it, but this is the exact reason why I dont believe that younger players dont fit into our guild schedule very well. No fault of their own, but come on folks, lets be accountable and respectful of each others time.

These people are what I call "Pyjama Raiders" just wasting a couple hours between bathtime, milk and cookies and bedtime tucked up with their favourite blanket, a bedtime story and their nightlight.

I need seasoned, hardened battle monsters, not wimping pansies.

/RANT OFF

I know this post is going to get me into a bit of shit, but since when have I really worried about getting in shit, after all, i'm always in it, only the depth varies.

Cheers,

Angry Cyb
