RL Rants: I don’t got no vent
Raid Leader Rant 4: I don’t got no vent!
No folks, I didn’t mean me, I meant a number of my raid team, how by the gods of heaven and hell can it be that difficult to download an application that’s less than the size of any 10 second clip of some dodgy movie?
Here are the common excuses. "I don't have a headset" “I’m using a Mac”
“My mummy doesn’t like me talking to strangers” (ok I added that one in)
“I don’t sound good on Ventrilo”
Basically none of those are a good enough excuse to not download and install ventrilo. For people running a Mac you can kind of see what they mean, if the server admin doesn’t set the right codecs then it wont work for them so make sure your Vent server is using one of the Speex Codecs to look after your Mac users.
Not having a team member on Vent can get very frustrating for all members concerned. Not only will the RL have to type in tactics if they are needed (think Faction Champions atm) you will also miss people asking for assistance, advising you of incoming danger and simple things like when they have placed a Fish Feast. It slows everyone down and really does cause a lot of time wasting.

In all seriousness please ffs people get vent. I don’t want to hear you, I don’t care if your never utter a word or if at the end of the raid you sing everyone a full blown lullaby what I do need to make sure is that you can hear me and everyone else. We talk strategy and we shout out when there is a problem, you will know more about what’s going on using vent than you do about your own love life.
Take your finger out of your ears, stop living in your own little world within a world of warcraft and bring a glimmer of preparation and intelligence to the table. Stop being a wuss, nobody cares if you’re a big hairy man who sounds like a girl or a big hairy girl that sounds like a man, all folks care about is getting the job done.
So next time I ask for a ready check or assign someone a job to do on Vent I expect it done
You don’t bring Vent, even just to listen to me through your speakers, then you don’t raid.
