Raid Leader Rant: Raidersitting Part 1
Hello folks,
Welcome to a new section of raidleader.co.uk called Raid Leader Rant (RLR for short), here is where I let my temper flare a little bit more in an effort to vent some frustration outside of a raid environment. Today I’m going to start with something I call Raider Sitting, it’s a bit like Baby Sitting only a lot more time consuming, less fun and definitely with less financial reward.
Let me explain why I’m so annoyed about this that I could crap epics for a week, I don’t have the time, the will or the inclination to help people who wont help themselves, it really does my head in that some people expect to pitch up late, not repaired, not enchanted, not gemmed and with the wrong attitude and their brain stuck somewhere quite far up their anus, in fact it annoys me so much that they don’t end up lasting very long and usual I pick a fight with them that I know they are going to lose so I get an excuse to gkick them. Quite honestly I expected more, let me give you two examples that have happened in the last week.
Raider 1 – The Hunter – Mostly epic with a few blues.
Raider 1 came into Ulduar with us this past weeks reset, mainly because it was later at night and we were doing the easier bosses where I felt that the rest of the raid team were more than capable and I wanted to help get him some epics. He got some stick from another raid member for not performing well and his DPS for being low. I had to make it perfectly clear that as RL it was my decision to bring him in and if anyone has any issues with that then they need to direct them to me in the appropriate channel (whisper) and show some common decency. Now you may question why I brought him into an Ulduar raid when he obviously wasn’t kitted enough. Well it was easy, we don’t run nax, we don’t run OS or the lower level areas anymore to kit our players up, we expect them to farm heroics and to work on their own kit sets just like we have to. Guildies are there to farm heroics with and also they have access to VoA and now Onyxia as well. There are constantly pugs being run to Nax, OS and the daily heroic even supplies Emblems of Triumph. I mean lets be honest there isn’t exactly a shortage of options for improving your own kit these days.
That’s exactly what this guy has been doing, over the space of a week I have seen him go from Blue to Purple and his performance and DPS has shot up, yes he has run some heroics with some guildies but he was the one organising and making that effort, he took responsibility and pushed hard and for that his guild steps up and gives him a helping hand, this isn’t what I consider Raid Sitting this is a fundamental part of guild dynamics, this is gearing up enthusiastic and responsible raiders because you know they will be an asset to the team.
If you don’t want to be in a team where there may be someone that needs a helping hand then I think it’s a poor show, don’t get me wrong I’m suggesting that we gear up all the players on the server for fun, but a guildy who has shown commitment and dedication to their own progress in my opinion deserves to be given a head start and an opportunity unlike Raider 2 who is going to be the subject of my rant…. Read on if you don’t mind a bit of ranting…
Raider 2 – The Warlock – ALL epic but 4 x PvP pieces.
Raider 2, all epic, came to Ulduar and did really bad DPS, and I mean really bad, in the region of 1.4k in full level 80 epic gear. Although there were 4 PvP pieces I still was a bit confused on how it’s possible to do such crap DPS, so I had a word and asked a few questions. Why are you wearing PvP gear in a PvE situation? Now I will be the first to say I don’t know much about Warlocks so I asked the question expecting there to be some complicated answer regarding stats etc etc, but no I got bad attitude. Then I asked why nothing was enchanted and again I got bad attitude, then I asked why there were no proper gems and I got… yes you guessed it… bad attitude. By this time I was pretty wound up and so I let loose with a few comments.

First of all this is not a place where you can do nothing but sit on your backside and expect a spot in a raid if you cant even be bothered to enchant your kit, secondly don’t expect to get any kit whatsoever when you give me attitude like that cause quite frankly I’d rather disenchant it and urinate in your backpack than give whatever you need when you cant be bothered to go get it for yourself. I’m fed up with babysitting (here after called raidersitting) for people like this, just f’orf and take your finger out your arse and work on your kit just like the rest of us if you cant be bothered to show you give a damn then quite frankly I don’t.
Now I’m fed up to the back teeth of people like this, who come in a skim off the kit and epics that they let the rest of the team get for them by pulling together that little bit more, I don’t mind helping someone who helps themselves but you have to show some effort in this life and if you can be bothered then as far as I am concerned you’re a leach and can go to hell, give me bad attitude on top and the only place you’ll find yourself is at the bottom of the list being used as an example of what not to do, and if you can pull more than 1.4k dps in full epic then quite honest give the game up and go play my little pony because your just plain crap.
I will not be doing anymore Raidersitting, everyone who wants a space in my raids have got to prove to me that they want to be there and they are ready to go, this isn’t me asking you, it’s you asking me. Get the dynamic the right way around and show me what your made of or GTFO and stop wasting my time.
Let me say one more thing…. I can promise that there were a lot more expletives than that but I don’t wanna get slapped by the search engines for profane content ;)
Imagine the ramblings of Gordon Ramsey on a rampage in a kitchen full of students…. And you’ll be pretty close.
So do me a favour people and do your own raid leader a favour, put some f’in effort in on the basics or just f’orf and get yourself another hobby cause other peoples time is precious and not yours to waste. A bit of common sense and ownership of your own kit and progress goes a long way.
