WoW Blogs - General Goods WoW Blog
Hello There, and welcome back to Generel Goods Crusaders Coliseums weekly general WoW Blog,This week i will focus on mining and skinning, and then I should have covered the gathering professions in World of warcraft!
Skinning: Skinning is a gathering professions where you use your skinning tool, which you can find here:
http://www.wowhead.com/items?filter=cr=91:91:91;crs=166:161:168;crv=0:0:0;ma=1
What you get from what?
When you kill beatst or dragonkins you will, after looting and skinning them, be rewarded with leather, scales or hides which you can use for Leatherworking (comming up later^^)
And when you kill nerubians and silithids you will get carapaces, which also is used for Leatherworking.
Herbalism gives lifeblood? but what about skinning?
After blizzard added the bonus' for professions, they have decided to give skinning Master of anatomy:
Skinning all those dead animals has broadened your anatomical knowledge, increasing your critical strike rating by XX.
Rank 1: 3 Crit
Rank 2: 6 Crit
Rank 3: 9 Crit
Rank 4: 12 Crit
Rank 5: 20 Crit
Rank 6: 40 Crit
You gain Rank 1 of this at skinning skill of 75, Rank 2 at 150, Rank 3 at 275, Rank 4 at 300, Rank 5 at 375 and Rank 6 at 450.
So with full skinning you will get an extra 40 Crit rating, which is usefull for both PVE and PVP purpose.
I wouldn't recommend takeing skinning for the crit rating only, you should actually only choose this profession for money or Leatherworking
Profit of skinning?
This depends on your auction house price's, if you are doing this to make money, you should keep track on the price's of leather for 1-2 weeks and afterwards conclude if its worth it.
Mining
Mining is a gathering professions where you find Veins, mostly located around rocks or in caves and mine them. This will give you ores and stones, which can be used for Blacksmithing, Engineering and Jewelcrafting.
But mining also gives you a skill called Smelting, where you can turn your ores into bars, which you need for Blacksmithing and Engineering. :)
As for any other profession mining also haves a bonus.
All your hard work spent mining has made you exceptionally tough, increasing your Stamina by XX
Rank 1: 3 Stamina
Rank 2: 5 Stamina
Rank 3: 7 Stamina
Rank 4: 10 Stamina
Rank 5: 30 Stamina
Rank 6: 60 Stamina
You gain Rank 1 of this at Mining skill of 75, Rank 2 at 150, Rank 3 at 275, Rank 4 at 300, Rank 5 at 375 and Rank 6 at 450.
PVE: This ability is good for a tanking character, but yet again, there are better options out there. But if you need mining, taking it on a tanking char wont hurt you. For DPS or healers this is rather useless, i know, more survivability is good, but you get more benefits from other professions.
PVP: This skill is quite useless in PVP, since 60 stamina isnt alot compared to what other professions can give you.
Profit from Mining?
The profit in this is usually high, since mining covers 3 profession needs, and there are many lazy bastards outthere, so you can earn a nice amount of gold from it. On most servers that is, if you want to be sure, go ahead and spy on your auction house for a couple of weeks :)
This was your weekly dose of general goods :)
I will be back again next week with more General Goods
