General Goods: It's Flowertime!
WoW Blogs - General Goods WoW Blog
HerbalismOh Hello, Heisel is back here again with your General Goods, this week I will be taking a hard look into every aspect of the profession herbalism, which basically is flower picking.
Herbalism – You will use your “Find herbs” ability and small yellow dots will appear on your mini-map and what you do, is just to get near them and right click.
What can I use herbs for – Herbs are useful for other professions such as Inscription or alchemist
What does herbalism offer you ? – In Wrath of the Lich King blizzard have added a bonus for herbalism which is “Lifeblood”
"Uses your skill in Herbalism to absorb energy and nutrients from the earth, healing you for 3600 (increased by maximum health) over 5 sec. Can be used while stealthed or invisible.Target must be level 55 or higher." The ability have 3 minutes Cooldown
This skill can be useful in some situations, in low levels if you are quick at leveling your herbalism the heals are ridiculously good.
What can this skill be good for in PvE?
In PvE this skill can be used to help out healers and since it’s not using a global cooldown it won’t make you lose healing/threat/damage, so no harm done .
Is there a PvP use for this skill?
Yes of course there is, it’s a off global cooldown, no mana cost heal that can be used in stealth, it’s not the best PvP profession but it can be really good, especially in 1vs1.
And for you poor lads out there..
But, but What about profit mr. Heisel?
There is profit in this profession but it depends on your effort and the auction house prices, so if you are ONLY doing this for the money, then take a look at the auction house and maybe follow it over a week or two.
This was my first real blog, hope you liked it and I wish you the best of luck with flower picking.
I will be back next week where General Goods will have the most awesome skinning/mining guide:)

Lifeblood ranks and requirements are as follows:
*Lifeblood (rank 1), heals 300 over 5 sec. Requires 75 herbalism, no level requirement.
*Lifeblood (rank 2), heals 480 over 5 sec. Requires 150 herbalism, no level requirement.
*Lifeblood (rank 3), heals 720 over 5 sec. Requires 225 herbalism and level 10.
*Lifeblood (rank 4), heals 900 over 5 sec. Requires 300 herbalism and level 25.
*Lifeblood (rank 5), heals 1200 over 5 sec. Requires 375 herbalism and level 40.
*Lifeblood (rank 6), heals 3600 over 5 sec. Requires 450 herbalism and level 55.
Lifeblood also slightly scales with maximum hp, so you might find it healing fairly over 4k in tank gear or PvP gear.
I'm a herby/alchy......... you calling me a girl?
From my point of view you haven't even covered half an aspect of the proffession,
regards, Legaard.
As a Herby I thought about this and as a profession it's not actually all that exciting. There isnt much more you can say, that is unless you produce a guide to the herb areas etc of which there are so many out there its a lot of replication.
There are a few extra uses of herbalism that relate to quests, for instance in WC you can see the Serpentbloom show up on the minimap, in Hellfire there is another quest collecting a herb quest item so again that works.
One thing I think is worth a mention is the ability to get Crystallized life from the herbs and in turn make them into Eternal Life. A very good source of profit.
Herbs have dropped dramatically in price these days, if your looking for a money maker, this is most likely not the one (depending on your servers market).
